Job Summary: 

The Assistant Director for Athletic Communications will assist the Director of Sports Information and Gameday Operations (SID) with all aspects of media and gameday coverage of all 32 of Alvernia University’s athletic programs. This position will work closely with the Director of Sports Information and Gameday Operations (SID) and Graduate Assistant (GA) for Sports Information to manage the social media, web, and print content for Alvernia Athletics, as well as publicize the academic and athletic accomplishments of Alvernia’s 600+ student-athletes. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University as demonstrated by the University Ideal Characteristics.   • Work with the GA in leadership and supervision of the Vern Sports Network (VSN) – Alvernia’s student run webcasting team. 
  • Serve as spotter and/or inputter for live stats at games and report scores and statistics to conference office and media outlets. 
  • Assist SID with website maintenance: including writing post-game recaps, updating schedule and roster pages, writing award releases, and writing feature stories. 
  • Assist with the coordination of work-study students assigned to game-day work. 
  • Assist SID with set-up/tear down of game facilities.
