The Assistant Director for Communications & Media will assist the Assistant Athletic Director with all facets of the Transylvania Athletic Department’s Athletic Communication operations, leading creation and execution of graphic and digital content for multiple platforms, and assisting with overseeing game day operations for home sporting events, statistical collection of games, livestream production, and assorted tasks focused towards advancing the overall branding of Transylvania Athletics.

The Assistant Director for Communications & Media will assist the Assistant Athletic Director with all facets of the Transylvania Athletic Department’s Athletic Communication operations, leading creation and execution of graphic and digital content for multiple platforms, and assisting with overseeing game day operations for home sporting events, statistical collection of games, livestream production, and assorted tasks focused towards advancing the overall branding of Transylvania Athletics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Apply Now· Create athletic graphics and templates for online digital platforms and select print materials
· Assist with training and staffing of game day workers, including statisticians, game and shot clock operators, scorekeepers, live stream and camera operators
· Coordinate weekly staffing of student workers and external workers who comprise home gameday crew
· Supervise athletic communication operations and gameday crew during home sporting events
· Set up and break down physical live stream stations at athletic home press areas prior to and following home broadcasts and ensuring steady presentation of Transy Sports Network broadcasts
· Assist Assistant Athletic Director in maintaining and updating TransySports.com athletics website with current rosters, schedules, statistical information, photo galleries, and other related daily content
· Assist Assistant Athletic Director in facilitating “media days” for student-athletes and teams, consisting of photography sessions, video interviews, and other visual content creation
· Write game recaps and player/team award articles for TransySports.com
· Serve as game statistician during select home games using statistical software
· Fulfill and provide rosters, statistics, and other related information to athletic communication colleagues, external media, and NCAA stats portal
· Assist with updating Transylvania Athletics social media platforms
· Other duties as assigned
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree along with excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Candidates should have strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and general experience with Adobe Creative Suite. Candidates must have the ability to organize, collaborate with, and lead diverse groups and supervise home contests. Experience with website content management software (i.e., SIDEARM, Prestosports), statisticial software (i.e., Genius Sports, Statcrew). In addition, candidates should have an athletics philosophy compatible with a Division III liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.
Preferred qualifications would include experience in video production or video editing and a background in creating social media content for a professional platform. Master’s degree is preferred with areas of journalism, communications, media, public relations, or sports management.
This position requires work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. This is a full-time appointment.
