Assists the Director of Johnson Coliseum with various initiatives and objectives. Performs moderately complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in the operations and planning of the Johnson Coliseum for Sam Houston Athletics.
Works with the Director to program activities in Johnson Coliseum for Sam Houston Athletics Department. Responsible for the day-to-day facility operations of Johnson Coliseum. Handles the logistics of all event set-ups, tear downs, and change overs. Establishes preventive maintenance schedules and points of contact for contracted services. Assists with the facility technology and operational software usage and updates. Assists with establishing goals and objectives. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates policies and procedures. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations. Researches facility improvement and enhancement projects. Develops strategies for preventative maintenance, service, inventory, and replacement of facility equipment. Coordinates all housekeeping and general maintenance of the building. Compiles and monitors budget expenditures. Point of contact and house manager for most events inside Johnson Coliseum. Plans, assigns, trains, and supervises the work of student staff. Designs, implements, and promotes safety programs for student staff. Participates in strategic planning. Performs other related duties as assigned.
International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) certification desirable. First aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and computer experience is helpful. Venue lighting and audio experience is desirable. Must possess well-developed communicative and interpersonal skills essential to working with large groups. Working hours may vary as required including evening and weekend work. Must be able to communicate and work well with all contracted services, equipment vendors, maintenance personnel, custodial services and co-workers within the department. Must be willing to attend conferences and workshops to strengthen work skills pertaining to the job and overall performance. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self or others.This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
