The University of Colorado (CU) Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Director of Athletic Communication! AsAssistant Director of Athletic Communications, serve as the primary contact for two of the University of Colorado's women’s varsity sport programs: volleyball and lacrosse; other sport duties as assigned. Primary contact responsible for creating media guides, game notes, news releases, maintaining statistics and records, staffing practices and serving as the liaison between the media and the aforementioned sport programs. Serve as the digital content manager for those sports’ social media channels.

This also includes promoting a positive social media presence through a variety of digital media platforms and assisting with social strategy, execution, and content creation on all official platforms.

The position is responsible for conducting all activities in compliance with conference, NCAA and University rules and regulations and is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, and affiliated conference and the NCAA.

Women's Volleyball - Athletic Communications:

• Duties to include interacting daily with local and national media via phone and email, preparing daily releases to media and other audiences including game notes, daily news and honors announcements and game previews as well as post game stories, development of content for women's volleyball websites including rosters, biographies, special premium content, records and honors sections, design and publication of brochures, media guides and gameday programs, supervising photography at all home and away contests, design of postseason honor candidate mailings and working as the lead statistician at all home games.
• Managing gameday operations for home events including but not limited to credentialing, statistical operations and social/digital media needs.
• Responsible for media coordination for home events as well as any hosted NCAA Championships and coordinate postgame media availability for coaches and athletes (including possible hybrid ZOOM and live stream arrangements).
• This position is responsible for day-to-day operation and in-game posting of digital communications across select social media team accounts as assigned.
• Create a content calendar that is 365 days for social media content; collaborate with various creative departments (digital content, video departments and creative services) to develop creative and engaging content supporting the sport and strategic plan objectives.
• Travel as necessary.

Women's Lacrosse - Athletic Communications:

• Duties to include interacting daily with local and national media via phone and email, preparing daily releases to media and other audiences including game notes, daily news and honors announcements and game previews as well as post game stories, development of content for women's lacrosse websites including rosters, biographies, special premium content, records and honors sections, design and publication of brochures, media guides and gameday programs, supervising photography at all home and away contests, design of postseason honor candidate mailings.

• Managing members of the media and the student workforce at all home contests. Coordinate postgame press responsibilities for coaches and athletes.
• Responsible for media coordination for all home events (including any conference or NCAA Championships) and postseason road contests.
• This position is responsible for day-to-day operation and in-game posting of digital communications across select social media team accounts as assigned.
• Build a content calendar that is 365 days for social media content; collaborate with various creative departments (digital content, video departments and creative services) to develop creative and engaging content supporting the sport and strategic plan objectives.
• Travel as necessary.

Athletic Communications General:

• There likely will be some involvement with any of the other 15 intercollegiate athletic programs and miscellaneous duties, such as assisting in conference and NCAA championship events, or at home events to increase staffing as needed, helping out in the social media arena.

• Starting salary range is $56,000 to $60,300.

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. Require at least 1+ years of professional, job related experience.

• Standard skills in MS Word, Excel, In-Design, Photoshop and other typical applications.
• Strong working knowledge of social media best practices and social media tools including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
• Ability to build and maintain social content calendars and communicate/collaborate with cross functional groups to implement responsibilities.
• Skills and experience in social media management for a sports organization.
• Any background in building graphics encouraged, but not required.
• Proven dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion.

• Experience and good knowledge with college athletics in general, specifically the two aforementioned sports (volleyball, lacrosse).
• Basic experience with Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
• Knowledge of the NCAA Genius (and Stat Crew System) software.
• Skills and experience in graphic design, athletics photography and editing, video and motion graphics are a plus.
