Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Sports Information.This is a full-time exempt State position with full benefits.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Sports Information is responsible for the oversight of all media and communications functions for the Salisbury University Athletics Department, helping to tell the SU story through athletics. This position will develop, implement and integrate a comprehensive communications plan with overall athletic department marketing and promotional strategy in mind. This position will recruit and supervise all media and communications staff, including assistants, interns, contractual staff and Sea Gull Sports Network student-workers. This position will oversee and administer the statistical tracking and reporting of all intercollegiate athletic events, ensuring a high level of accuracy. The incumbent is also responsible for reporting scores and results to the conference, NCAA, coaches associations and other organizations. This position will develop and update media communications policies and review/revise structure and procedures as necessary. This position will oversee the administration of the athletics website, including content creation and management.
Authority and Accountability
This position will report directly to the Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation. This position will oversee two (2) full-time employees, all contractual workers, and the Sea Gull Sports Network. This position will have oversight and authority of the sports information budget, including payroll for contingents and student-workers.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, three years or more of related experiences in athletics communications at the collegiate level. Demonstration of comprehensive understanding of athletic media relations and strategic leadership. Outstanding writing, communication and interpersonal skills, working knowledge of stat crew or other industry standard in-game statistical programs. Familiarity and proficiency with social media platforms. Personnel management skills including personnel decisions, coordination, scheduling, delegation of duties, mentoring and supervision of assistants, work study, interns and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and ability to strategically assess and promote growth of communications and sports information for athletics. Innovative approach to enhancing the day-to-day operations and visibility of sports information.
