JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations serves as the senior development officer for Northeastern State University’s department of athletics. As such, this position develops and implements a vital and comprehensive fund raising program with the primary purpose of generating community, corporate and alumni support as well as private funding for the identified priorities of the department of athletics and each individual sport.
This position will also serve as the voice of RiverHawks Athletics during all football, basketball, other sport related broadcasts and department of athletics events (i.e. Hall of Fame) while striving to develop a radio network and upgrading the revenue potential of NSU broadcasts.
MAJOR DUTIES
Coordinate all fund raising-efforts from planning through implementation;
Direct all cultivation and solicitation strategies for private support from donors and prospects. Engage in personal solicitation of annual and major gifts for department of athletics priorities;
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with members of the NSU Foundation. Work closely with the Foundation staff in all matters pertaining to the department of athletics development activities;
Develop annual athletics fund raising goals, objectives and athletics department private fund raising priorities in cooperation with the Director of Athletics ~ Chief Athletics Officer. Design and implement strategies to achieve the identified goals and objectives;

MAJOR DUTIES
Coordinate all fund raising-efforts from planning through implementation;
Direct all cultivation and solicitation strategies for private support from donors and prospects. Engage in personal solicitation of annual and major gifts for department of athletics priorities;
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with members of the NSU Foundation. Work closely with the Foundation staff in all matters pertaining to the department of athletics development activities;
Develop annual athletics fund raising goals, objectives and athletics department private fund raising priorities in cooperation with the Director of Athletics ~ Chief Athletics Officer. Design and implement strategies to achieve the identified goals and objectives;
Serve as an ambassador to solicit support for the NSU Department of Athletics projects and priorities. Cultivate and solicit corporate and community membership in the NSU Athletic Association, corporate partnerships, capital campaign and other revenue opportunities;
Oversee forwarding of checks, cash and credit card information to the Foundation for accurate reporting of all financial records;
Prepare for quality live game broadcasts, web-related and podcast interviews to improve the RiverHawks brand;
Serve in the sports information capacity at live broadcasts when the director of sports information does not travel. In addition to game day duties (as assigned), assisting with stat crew may be needed during peak seasons. Assist the sports information director with on-going positive media relationships;
Point-person for the Department of Athletics related to all technical matters which includes, but may not be limited to: game day video production, scoreboards, stadium and arena video boards, audio and video game streaming via the web, game clock controls, sound systems at various venues;
Serve as the liaison to the NSU Athletic Association including an active role in building the Golf Classic and growing membership;
Provide a positive and professional presence in the community
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of athletics related fundraising.
Knowledge of game day production.
Skill identifying and cultivating donors and corporate partners.
Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and climbs the stadium stairs to access the press box.
The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
