Job Summary

Responsibilities*

• Monitoring of compliance issues impacting student-athletes including:

  • Completion of annual student-athlete compliance forms.

• Roster management activities such as:

  • Updating student-athlete data in compliance software program(s).
  • Monitoring and communication of additions and deletions to rosters.
  • Overseeing travel and competition rosters and class excuse letters.

• Playing and practice season activities such as:

  • Declarations of playing and practice seasons.
  • CARA forms.
  • Coordination of Practice visits.
  • Summer conditioning activities.
  • Time Management principles

• Student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness issues

• Complimentary admissions to student-athletes.

• Outside competition.

• Serve as compliance liaison to multiple sport programs as assigned.

• Assisting with the development of rules education programming for student-athletes.

• Provide interpretations of NCAA rules to coaches, staff and student-athletes.

• Prepare and submit waiver requests, as assigned.

• Investigate possible violations of NCAA rules and draft violation reports, as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Associate AD or Associate AD.

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's Degree
• 1 - 2 years of compliance experience in a Division I athletics program
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules
• Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate information to a range of audiences
• Verbal and written communications skills.
  

Desired Qualifications*

• Masters, law or other relevant advanced degree
• Demonstrated knowledge of Big Ten rules
• Previous experience in a high visibility intercollegiate athletics program
• Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work
• Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team

NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes, coaches, athletics staff members, student workers, male practice players, managers, and part or temporary staff members from participating in sports wagering activities involving:

• Any NCAA-sponsored sport at any level (college, professional, amateur, or international) list here
• Any event in which NCAA competition is involved

Sports wagering includes, but is not limited to:

• Traditional sports bets placed through sportsbooks, mobile betting apps, or prediction markets
• Prop bets, futures, and parlay wagers
• Fantasy contests that require an entry fee and award prizes based on athletic performance
• Pool betting, squares, and similar contests involving sports outcomes

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
