Job Summary
The University of Louisiana Monroe, an NCAA Division I member of the Sun Belt Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Sports Medicine.
Reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine for all matters pertaining to ULM athletics.
Duties may include, but are not limited to sports coverage with travel, and athletic training room supervision.
Athletic training operations at all games/events as necessary.
Coordinates the care, prevention, and treatment of athletic injuries to student-athletes in all sports programs.
Maintains complete, accurate, and detailed medical records for all student-athlete injuries.
Arranges for injury and illness treatment by team physicians and other physicians as necessary.
Serves as liaison to all medical care providers.
Manages the drug-testing program.
Manages the athletic training budget within the parameters of the approved operating budget.
Manages the secondary insurance program.
Assists in directing or directs sport camps as requested or required.
NCAA Related:
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary.
Reports potential rules violations immediately.
Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director.
Completes all assigned duties by established deadlines and in accordance with established or defined protocols, policies, and procedures.
Apprises supervisor of issues that might impede timely completion of assigned duties and/or departmental projects.
Exercises sound judgment and discretion at all times and maintains cooperative working relationships with both internal and external constituencies and co-workers.
Exhibits a willingness to perform other duties as requested or required efficiently and timely.
Complies with all policies and procedures as stipulated in the ULM Staff Handbook.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s Degree and two years’ experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA BOC)
Eligible for, obtain and maintain license to practice Athletic Training in Louisiana.
Current CPR/First Aid/Automatic External Defibrillator(AED) Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree
Experience as a head athletic trainer at the NCAA Division 1 level.
