Position Description
Working under the general guidance and direction of the Associate AD for Strategic Communications, serve as the primary contact for assigned sports. Write, edit and distribute news/press releases including previews, recaps and features through online and print media, including local, regional and national media outlets (print and electronic).
Assist with the writing, editing and design of department collateral, with focus on assigned sports.
Oversee design and updating of the Athletic Department’s website as it pertains to assigned sports as well as other assigned areas by the Associate AD for Strategic Communications.
Assist with digital strategy and social media initiatives. Coordinate social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) communications for fan engagement and promotional purposes. Work closely with marketing, creative and video departments to utilize all digital media channels in promotion of Seattle U Athletics.
Coordinate and manage the functions of the scorer’s table at home athletic contents including coordinating statisticians, announcers, timers, etc. Supervise gameday staff and students.
Report game results, statistics, student-athlete award nominations, coaches award nominations and other pertinent information to conference offices, coaches associations and the NCAA.
Collaborate with external staff to ensure all digital and print collateral, and videoboard and in-game elements are visually and thematically consistent with departmental and university brand standards.
Assist in activation and fulfillment of sponsorship agreements as they pertain to the Athletic Department’s website and social media channels.
Assist in the planning, coordination, communication and implementation of special events.
Travel with various teams, serving as the Athletic Department’s media relations/communications representative.
Provide guidance and mentorship to student athletes and coach regarding media and public relations activities and interaction, including interviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field with two years experience in athletic communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with local media, Seattle University employees and national media outlets.
Proficiency with SIDEARM Sports, StatCrew, NCAA Genius/NCAA Manager, StatBroadcast, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of Seattle University, the NCAA, Western Athletic Conference and any other governing body of importance to the University.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $26.00-$27.00 per hour
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible*
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university’s discretion.
