We are seeking a professional who will play an essential role in designing and implementing programs that enhance the success of our student-athletes. This position will focus on developing initiatives that promote professional and career growth, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Working closely with the Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office, the coordinator will lead the development of the department's DEI programming. The Student-Athlete Success Coordinator will work collaboratively with athletics staff and coaches to design and implement successful strategies and events tailored to the specific needs and goals of each sport program and the department as a whole.
This position will empower generations of future leaders to embrace their own athletic experiences by intentionally integrating youth engagement with our student-athletes in the competitive arena and via community outreach, thereby role modeling the value of school pride, teamwork, personal growth, competition, inclusion, and leadership. The chosen candidate will identify and facilitate community service opportunities as well as record and track department-wide community service hours. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Success (Leadership Development/ADID) will create and grow key campus partnerships in the areas of leadership, life skills training, and career services. Leverage existing campus resources and programs to progress student-athletes through the different stages of development.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled. Exam scores will be delivered from the civil service system apps@sucss.illinois.gov.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
Pre- Employment Screening: All external candidates who receive a job offer will be required to undergo pre-employment screening for this position. The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and, where applicable, other background checks such as a drug screen, verification of employment and education or licensure/certification, reference checks, and/or checks with relevant government registries. Additional Information: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status. F-1 and J-1 visa holders must be enrolled full-time and can only apply for temporary part-time roles working 20 hours or less per week during spring and fall semesters, such as student worker positions, assistantships, and civil service extra help roles. SIUE is a state university, and it's important to highlight that benefits from state-sponsored plans may not be accessible to individuals on F1 or J1 visas.
