The Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Director: Recruiting. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.The mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to Go Build Excellent, Authentic, Visionary Student-Athletes (GO B.E.A.V.S.). Reporting to the Director of Recruiting Operations, the Assistant Director for Recruiting assists with managerial and professional support to the OSU Football Program. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in recruiting operations, including on-campus and off-campus scheduling, official visits, and updating the coaching staff about recruits. In addition, this position will assist with special projects, maintains an overall events calendar for all coaches to coordinate recruiting schedules, camp schedules, and speaking engagements. The position also supplies administrative support for the Football Operations staff and coaches.Screening the public interest and energy is essential to the position. There are a wide variety of administrative and analytical assignments which require independent judgments with respect to University and NCAA guidelines. This position will assist with the coordination and liaison with academic community, the general public, and other staff members in the Athletic department.

50% RECRUITING COMMUNICATIONS Works collaboratively with the recruiting staff and coaches to organize and execute all recruiting communications, including overseeing the execution of the monthly recruiting correspondence calendar. Organizes the recruiting database to confirm the proper recruiting communications are being sent to the proper individuals.25% RECRUITING PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETES Works independently to sort through and give an initial evaluation of prospective student-athletes within an assigned geographic area. Works independently within the recruiting database following internal procedures for prospective student-athlete evaluation. Assists with the tracking of incoming/prospective student-athletes with admissions and records as well as the NCAA eligibility center. Assists with the collection of official transcripts, and test scores for our Compliance office. Works with Compliance on the evaluation and progress of prospective student-athletes and projects what they will need to do to become certified by the NCAA and accepted into Oregon State University. Produces reports for our coaching staff and the ability to speak intelligently about the progress of our prospective student-athletes. Organizes videos for daily recruiting evaluation meetings. Assists with the maintenance of our prospect database and film library. Research individual prospects and reports back to coaches. Manages the Oregon State Football Twitter and Instagram accounts. Provides input, direction and support of all social media sites pertaining to recruiting or current program operations. Assists with travel for recruiting both on and off-campus. 15% OFFICIAL VISITS Assists with the paperwork process for an official visit and all documentation that needs to be submitted to the compliance office for an official visit. Assists with transportation, lodging, tours, and meal arrangements for the visit. Produces an itinerary for official visits and organizes all logistics within the visit. Secures travel advances and has the ability to produce host money, payment for transportation and meals that don’t direct bill, and reconciles with the Business Office along with any NCAA paperwork that is required.5% UNOFFICIAL VISITS Tracks what prospective student-athletes are coming and when. Sets up facility and campus tours. Works with coaching staff to set up meetings and determine to what extent the department wants to go to for each individual prospective student-athlete. Collects any money that needs to be paid for meals provided when on an unofficial visit and reconciles and records those payments with the Business Office. 5% CAMPS Assists with planning, registration, and execution of summer camps.
Bachelor’s degree. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, with special attention to how they apply to recruiting. Experience with an NCAA Football Program. Knowledge and experience with database management. Experience creating and generating reports. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity in both Athletics and at the University. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Experience with a Division I BCS Football Program. Social Media management experience.
Will work nights and weekends. May have access to personal information and one-on-one access to youth.
