Manhattan College, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12-month, full-time position of Assistant Director of Strategic Communications and Digital Media . This position assists the Strategic Communications and Digital Media office with the promotion of Manhattan College’s student-athlete experience, which assists with all aspects of day-to-day office operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for producing and providing information to media outlets, collecting statistical data, records, and history on university student-athletes, and ensuring effective presence on www.GoJaspers.com
Coordinate media opportunities, press conferences and interviews with local, regional and national media to promote Manhattan College student-athletes, coaches, and staff, while maintaining brand consistency.
Manage, update and create content for the athletics department and team social media accounts through written and multimedia content (photography, videos, and graphic designs).
Create graphics, game programs and other promotional items for print and digital publication.
The position will be expected to continuously evolve with strategies and methodology for content and promotion of the Athletic Department in the current ever-changing digital age.
Assist in the planning and production of live audio and/or video broadcast of the Jasper Sports Network and ESPN3.
Oversee the Jasper Sports Network / ESPN3 Director for live broadcasts, web streaming, marketing, and promotional videos; further developing initiatives in new media, social media and multimedia.
Act as a liaison to the MAAC and the NCAA Offices
Nominate student-athletes for national, regional and conference athletic and academic honors. Coordinate media operations for home events and assist with special events when necessary.
Successful candidates must be able to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment with coaches, other staff members, Manhattan College employees and external constituents.
Assist with the coordination of part-time staff and associated payroll. Seek campus and external assistance through the department’s internship program.
Willingness to accept other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in related areas preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time prior experience at the Division I level.
Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful.
Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.
Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop and InDesign preferred.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
Ability to work effectively with coaches, faculty, administration, alumni and community.
