Job Description :
USC Athletics is looking to hire a fixed term Assistant Equipment Manager to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. With a focus on service and support for student-athletes and coaching staff, the Equipment Operations team is a key partner in the overall function of the athletic department. Protective equipment, uniforms, team apparel and special team promotional items are all organized and executed by the Equipment Operations team. With a focus on student-athlete safety and customer service, the team collaborates with several other units within Athletics as an essential sports performance unit to support student-athletes This role is responsible for serving all of USC’s varsity athletic programs, with a focus on Olympic sports. This position will work hands-on to support full-time staff with the organization of equipment and apparel distribution, the service of team locker rooms, apparel ordering, organization of equipment storage, preparing team uniforms for home competition, packing for travel, and supporting laundering of team apparel. The role will provide exposure to the inner workings of one of the key units in USC Athletics, touching all Olympic sports programs and collaborating with several other department units for successful outcomes.
Reporting directly to Cecilia Snipes (Associate Athletic Director, Equipment Operations), the Assistant Equipment Manager will work closely with student-athletes, coaches, and support staff in a competitive, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, self-motivated work ethic, and a positive attitude. Other requirements include punctuality, time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and work within a team. Must be physically able to stand for extended periods of time and carry/move up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education is preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes is preferred.

Retrieve and distribute goods to and from appropriate departments and contact staff for pick-up. Maintain accurate records and files regarding equipment checkout. Receive items from local vendors and those shipped to USC Athletics and prepare them for distribution by stamping names or numbers on equipment in order to track it. Store sporting equipment appropriately when not in use and assist with fitting athletic equipment and apparel to individual athletes as required.
Responsible for inventory, tracking, storage, and distribution of equipment and apparel, as assigned. Perform laundry services.
Pack and upload equipment and locker rooms and set-up/break-down practice and game fields. Provide technical equipment assistance (ball machines, loud speakers, scoreboard, etc.). Support equipment and apparel inventory management.

Qualifications:

Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.

Hourly Range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $25.99-$30.50.
