Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Football Coach. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for providing administrative, instructional and coaching assistance to the Head Coach with the purpose of building a successful, competitive intercollegiate sports program that also retains and graduates student-athletes. This position will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holiday hours as needed.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent);
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a highly competitive football environment as a high school, collegiate or professional coach;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Working knowledge of and ability to utilize basic office productivity software and online database systems (please specify);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public speaking engagements, clinician experience, and use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques;
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and managing complex functions on behalf of an organization;
  • Strong technical and tactical knowledge;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules;
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.
