Description

Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Football Coach supports the management and administration of the Simpson University football program. The Assistant Coach is expected to demonstrate leadership and conduct aligned with the mission and values of Simpson University and its Athletic Department. Key responsibilities include recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes and effectively teaching, leading, and inspiring them.

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

·         1–3 years of successful collegiate coaching and recruiting experience

·         Strong Christian role model with ability to mentor and support students’ spiritual development

·         Ability to integrate faith into teaching, coaching, and team culture

·         Proven ability to develop and execute an effective recruiting and retention strategy aligned with Simpson University’s mission

·         Clear plan for academic accountability and student-athlete success

·         Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

·         Knowledge of NAIA rules and ability to build a competitive program

·         Ability to plan, teach, organize, and run efficient practices

·         Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

·         Proficient in technology, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office

·         Self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented

Essential Functions:

·         Responsible for recruiting, including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, maintaining an accurate database for identification of potential successful student-athletes.

·         Responsible for coaching a position group.

·         Prepare plans for personalized instruction of student-athletes to be taught by the assistant coach during in-season and off-season. Instructional plans encompass in-season, off-season, and summer activities for student-athlete(s). Areas include technical aspects of sport, film study, sport research, and total athlete development.

·         Be knowledgeable and tutor student-athletes in national, conference, and institutional rules and regulations to ensure compliance with Simpson University and the NAIA.

·         Assist in the implementation of the academic program including tutoring and monitoring of individual student-athlete progress to ensure academic eligibility, enforcement of study hall program, and providing referrals to the appropriate university resources.

·         Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.

Outdoors hot, cold and rainy environment while performing duties. Indoor office or gym.

Computer, scanner, copier, mouse, keyboard, stapler, 3-hole punch, letter opener. Practice field equipment.
