Fiscal Year - FT Contract
Support the head coach in all phases of the football program.
Bachelor’s degree by date of employment.
Successful playing and/or coaching experience.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Three to five years of collegiate coaching experience.
Requires successful completion of a Drivers License check, Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Duties & Responsibilities

Act in the absence of the Head Football Coach.

Perform duties in all areas of the program at the direction of the head coach, athletic director or sport supervisor.

Develop, in conjunction with the head coach, planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.

Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of athletes in to the program; includes, contact by telephone and mail; off campus evaluations; on campus visits.

Develop scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents.

Make recommendations in regard to fund raising, promotion and marketing, special projects, clinics and camps.

Represent the athletic department at alumni functions and/or donor functions in regard to increasing ticket sales for the football program.

Monitor, in conjunction with the head coach, the academic progress, the conditioning, and the training of the student-athletes.

Show commitment to and responsibility for adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA.

Oversee the establishment, development, and implementation of a game plan for defensive situations.

Oversee the practice plans, practice formats, playbooks, game plans and scouting reports as they pertain to the defensive scheme of football.

Oversee every aspect of situational and contingency planning as it pertains to the defensive unit.

Primary conduit between head coach and assistant coaches with regards to defensive format, defensive staff structure, and game day calls.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
