Job Summary
Under the direction of the Head Coach, assists with planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting an athletics program within NCAA and University of Chicago standard. Recommends, plans, and implements new instructional, training, and conditioning programs. Teaches relevant skills to student-athletes during team practices, games, and individual/small group training sessions. Experience coaching both or either Quarterbacks or Wide Receivers.
The Assistant Football Coach is a 6-month (August through January), temporary position with benefits.
Responsibilities
Plans and organizes the details of the team including skill teaching and development, practice organization, coaching, and player selection.
Evaluates individual performance and provides leadership and instruction in areas of deficiency as required.
Implements team discipline, decision making, and independent judgement.
Directs the work of student workers and volunteer assistant coaches.
Complies with institutional, Midwest Conference, University Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Serves on professional departmental committees.
Represents the University of Chicago in professional, alumni and civic functions.
Performs recruitment of student-athletes.
Performs initial and ongoing assessments of students’ academic abilities and rates achievements. Monitors and documents students’ progress, participation, and attendance in class.
Works independently and guides work of groups of students and/or teachers throughout the academic year. Interprets issues and provides expert consultation, training, and/or professional advising.
Participates in staff meetings and a range of social and academic program events.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
