Position Title:            Assistant Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach

Department:               Athletics

Position Status:          Full-Time, Twelve (12) Month Position

Directly Reports to:   Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach

Job Purpose

The assistant coach will be responsible for supporting the head coach in managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Golf program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of golf.  The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience.  

Duties and responsibilities

• Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations
• The assistant coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport.
• Recruiting quality student athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits

• Recruiting quality student athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits
• Commitment to and the management of program budget
• Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations
• Provide academic support for all student-athletes
• Assist the head coach with match scheduling
• Practice and meet planning and implementation
• Player development and evaluation
• Assist head coach in supervising an effective strength and conditioning program
• Assist head coach in managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.)
• Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
• Day to day program administration
• Actively assist with program fundraising and development of alumni and community relations
• Serve on campus and departmental committees as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Successful collegiate coaching and golf experience is preferred
• Demonstrated expertise on course instruction and knowledge of the sport
• Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and on the course
• Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes
• Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and assist in the management a competitive golf program are important
• Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required
