Bryant and Stratton College’s (Wisconsin) Athletic Department is seeking an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s cross country team (fall) and men’s and women’s track & field team (winter/spring) for the 2026 academic year. These sports compete at the NJCAA Division I and II level (scholarship offering). All coaches are responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive athletic program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship. The assistant coach will focus on programing distance athletes, coaching distance athletes, recruiting, excellence in competition and also recognize and emphasize academic excellence in the classroom as well.
Duties:
The assistant coach assists the head coach in all aspects of the Cross Country/Track & Field programs.
Responsible for scouting and recruiting athletes, attending meets to recruit, scheduling campus visits, programing practice plans, and assisting in coaching the intercollegiate team at Bryant & Stratton College.
Coaches are expected to become knowledgeable of all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules, including student-athlete eligibility requirements.
As representatives of the College, all coaches and student-athletes must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. It is the responsibility of the assistant coach to supervise student-athletes while traveling to ensure the safety of staff and students.
Assisting with scheduling, organizing, supervising, and conducting all practices and meets (focusing on cross country and distance athletes).
Keep athletes engaged in workouts
The assistant coach will be required to drive vans to meets.
Flexible hours for practicing and recruiting will be needed.
The assistant coach must promote the academic success of student-athletes to include monitoring the academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
Other duties may be assigned by the head coach and athletic director.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Required: Coaching experience at the high school level or above in the distance events 1500 meters through 10k meters
Required: Current knowledge and experience programing workouts for distance runners
Required: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
Required: Ability to serve as a positive role model for young adults with a positive attitude.
Required: afternoon, evening, and weekend availability
Required: minimum of two days a week, daytime availability
Preferred: College recruiting experience
Preferred: Familiar with Southeastern Wisconsin high schools & Northeastern IL high Schools
Preferred: First Aid/CPR certification
Preferred: Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations
Preferred: Clean driving record
