Grays Harbor College Athletic Department invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach for Intercollegiate Men’s Basketball. Reporting to the Head basketball coach and the Director of Athletics, the selected candidate will be responsible for working with the head coach of the basketball program, ensuring compliance with the athletic department, college, and Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) guidelines. The Assistant Coach holds the primary role in fostering a holistic collegiate basketball journey for student-athletes, emphasizing academic success, competitive athletics, and personal growth opportunities. This is a part-time, non-tenure position without benefits eligibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, including individual skill development.
  • Teach basketball fundamentals, techniques, and team concepts (offensive and defensive systems) to prepare student-athletes for intercollegiate competition.
  • Support game preparation, including scouting reports, film breakdown, and in-game adjustments.
  • Assist with opponent scouting and development of game plans.
  • Recruit student-athletes in compliance with Northwest Athletic Conference and institutional guidelines.
  • Coordinate and participate in recruiting activities including campus visits, tours, and ongoing communication with prospects and families.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes at high school games, AAU events, showcases and camps.
