Join the 17-time Learfield Director's Cup winning Laker Athletics department anchored in the relentless pursuit of greatness. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for all phases of the program including organization and administration, quality student-athlete recruitment, fiscal management, viable fund raising and public relations, and other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Salary and Benefits

$40,000 - $45,000, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources and tuition waiver effective on date of hire.

Primary Duties

  • Assist in the development of game strategies, create practice plans, and provide on-court instruction to players.
  • Coach players individually and in groups, monitor academic progress, and ensure athletes meet conduct and culture standards.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit talented student-athletes who meet the university’s academic and athletic requirements.
  • Assist with camp coordination and other program fundraising needs.
  • Ensure the program adheres to all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a GVSU ambassador, engage with media, and participate in fundraising and community events.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
