Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor
The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor works alongside with the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor in providing support for the organization of the program and implantation of game and practice plans. This includes, but not limited to communication with athletes, preparation of facilities, distribution of equipment and care of equipment, scouting opponents, and film breakdown.
The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor will aid in providing support for the player’s academic success, and track academic progress as needed. The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor may facilitate communication with a number of constituents, which include faculty, academic advisors, assistant deans, and parents. Internally, the Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor works with the Equipment and Facilities staff, Athletic Trainers, and Assistant ADs when necessary.
The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor will respond to the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor directives and will be responsible for providing coaching instruction and administrative support to other coaches and administrative staff while ensuring compliance with all related governing bodies including the NCAA, NCAC Conference and institutional regulations.
The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Instructor will also have direct responsibilities with the recruitment of prospective student athletes.

• Assist in organization, administration and coaching of the men’s lacrosse program according to the administrative policies of the department.
• Assist in organization of practices, and travel arrangements as directed by the head coach.
• Assist with recruiting efforts on and off campus inclusive of attendance at recruiting fairs, showcases and games, placing phone calls to recruits, and coordinate campus visits.
• Assist in the development of student-athletes athletically and academically.
• Responsible for adhering to a system of budget management and accountability.
• Follow all University, Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA policies and regulations.
• Meet all deadlines for paperwork (i.e. rosters, physicals, officials ratings, etc.).
• Exhibit enthusiasm towards athletes and display respect for the entire program (i.e. officials, opponents, parents, schools, property, equipment, etc.).
• Dress appropriately and professionally for games, practices, recruit/family visits and other school/athletic functions.
• Foster school spirit by promoting other sports.
• Maintain fair, consistent, and appropriate relationships with student athletes.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and respective head coach.
• Possess ability to communicate the Mission of the University and the Athletic Department Philosophy and Goals to students. Demonstrate a commitment to University Mission and the Athletic Department Goals and Learning Outcomes.
• Knowledge of coaching lacrosse on a collegiate level to enhance the development of the student athletes in each program.
• Ability to communicate in a positive manner with students, staff, parents and alumni.
• Bachelors degree.
• Interest in understand and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of three (3) years of collegiate coaching experience as head or assistant coach
• Demonstrated ability to motivate students in a positive manner.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize effectively, teach fundamentals and techniques associated with the sport and experience with teams that are competitive and show evidence of being well coached.
• Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership and to serve as a positive role model as a coach and colleague.
• Successful prior participation in the sport at the high school, college or professional level.
This position works in-person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. This position is a part-time appointment that requires working hours during the workday, evenings, and weekends through May 31, 2026. Schedules vary depending upon varsity team assignments. Travel is required with varsity teams.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Part Time
Exempt (Salary)
This is a part-time role with a salary of $3,000.
