SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Assist the head coach in managing all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division III soccer program. The top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and creating a positive culture that is centered around Christ.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with marketing and fundraising efforts for the program.
Supervise graduate assistant/student worker and approved student volunteers.
Oversee the student-athlete academic progress through bi-weekly meetings, study hall hours and academic resources.
Equipment duties such as ordering, organization, laundry, etc.
Aid in the recruitment of student-athletes through camps and showcase tournaments.
Assist in retaining the student-athletes through relationships with the athletic department and student life.
Help the head coach coordinate practices, individual trainings, and film sessions.
Encourage young players to grow in their faith while demonstrating positive Christian ideals.
Responsible for coaching the HSU Men’s Reserve Soccer team and duties that include: Conduct practices, Coordinate Officials, Manage reserve team travel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position, except for student workers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
M** ATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Payroll systems; internet software and Contact Management systems. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet software, email and PowerPoint is preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is required.
Previous experience coaching soccer at the collegiate or high school level is preferred.
Must be well organized, able to set priorities and deal with matters in a tactful and highly confidential manner.
Must be capable of working independently and with students in a supervisory role.
Must have the ability to work under pressure and deal with deadlines (essential).
Must be comfortable with multi-tasking, flexible with fluid situations, and effective with changing priorities.
Solid communication skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills (emotional intelligence) required.
Strong commitment to the values of diversity and human compassion required.
Commitment to the personal development of college students required.
Commitment to working in collaboration with constituencies required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required (or must be obtained).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is an Exempt Level Staff Position which often requires extended hours beyond a 40-hour work week, especially during soccer season and recruiting season.
Candidate must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends depending on the time of year. Specifically, there are late afternoon practices during season and the traditional season games are in the afternoons and on weekends.
Extensive travel and irregular hours are required to travel to/from games during peak season. Travel during season involves traveling to the opposing team universities.
Must maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive an automobile and 15-passenger van.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Some travel may be required on occasion in order to attend off-campus events.
