Duties & Responsibilities

VCU Athletics is seeking a passionate and talented Assistant Men's Tennis Coach.

Summary:

The Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach’s primary purpose is coaching and providing VCU Tennis student-athletes with high-level instruction in the sport of Tennis at the NCAA Division l level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas.

Assist in recruitment of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes; Assist with maintenance of accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes and required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork; and Assist with the evaluation of prospective student-athletes; Assist in scheduling matches for the tennis team; Secure travel arrangements involved with recruitment, matches, and tournaments; and Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.

Qualifications

Minimum hiring standards include:

Bachelor’s degree or training & experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree;

Knowledge and experience with NCAA Division I rules and regulations;

1-2 years experience coaching at the Division I collegiate level; and

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred hiring standards include:

Previous playing experience in the sport of tennis;

International recruiting experience; and

An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.

Required Licenses/ Certifications

First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications;

Valid driver's license; and

Passing score on current NCAA Coaches Certification (Recruiting) Test.
