| Job Description Summary |
Eastern Oregon University is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach to support the university’s intercollegiate athletics program. The Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the men’s wrestling program, including conducting practices and competitions, providing technical instruction and individual student-athlete development, supervising pre-season and conditioning activities, and assisting with recruiting prospective student-athletes.
Additional responsibilities include supporting team operations, promoting positive relationships with students, alumni, and the community, and helping foster a positive team culture that reflects EOU’s commitment to academic excellence, athletic competitiveness, leadership, and character development. The primary goal of this position is to create an environment that supports the academic, athletic, and personal success of student-athletes.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, 6-month position.

The Eastern Oregon University Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach is expected to adhere to the NAIA Coaches Code and EOU’s Athletic Department’s guiding principles:
(1) Support the physical, emotional, social, and mental development of student-athletes through a robust system of care and support that produces quality student-athlete experiences.
(2) Reflect high standards of academic excellence.
(3) A competent pursuit of athletic excellence shown by competing for Frontier Conference titles and participating in NAIA postseason play by advancing to the national championships.
(4) Embrace the responsibility for equitable treatment and promotion of diversity, acceptance, and inclusion.
(5) Encourage department innovation for enhanced success, and cultivate a mindset for growth, professional development, work-life integration, and department financial vitality.
(6) Promote community engagement and student-athlete character development through respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
(7) Strictly adhere to the highest level of fiscal control and full compliance with all governing associations with transparency and integrity.
(8) Engage EOU alumni through collaborative efforts that generate “Lifelong Mountie” loyalty and support.

| Responsibilities |
- Assist in organizing and directing all phases of the Wrestling Program.
- Coordinating and assisting in Fundraising activities.
- Recruit potential student-athletes.
- Help with team travel arrangements.
- Assisting with Camps and Clinics.
- Support student-athlete academic progress and personal development on and off the mat.
- Perform administrative duties for tournaments, duals, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two (2) years of collegiate wrestling experience
- One (1) year of wrestling coaching experience (any level)
- Demonstrated success in training, mentoring, ability to demonstrate technique, and developing student-athletes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to working with student athletes, staff and administrators
- Knowledge of computer information systems including social media platforms.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Proven track record in recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes
- Collegiate and Freestyle knowledge.
- Knowledge of NAIA rules and the ability to identify and recruit qualified student athletes.
- First Aid & CPR certified or the ability to get certified once hired
- Valid driver’s license with three years of driving experience, and the ability to pass a motor vehicle report
