PURPOSE:
The Athletics Department invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach /
Recruiting Coordinator. This position assists the head coach in all facets of the men’s basketball program
to ensure a quality program and a successful Division I team. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will
be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the men’s basketball program including teaching
the fundamentals of the game; instructing, planning and directing practice and game strategies; advising
student-athletes regarding academics; oversight of team travel; and recruiting quality student-athletes that
excel both on the court and academically.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; Four years of experience as a basketball coach or college or professional playing
experience; Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high quality student-athletes from diverse
backgrounds; Effective communication skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as an assistant coach with experience at the NCAA Division II or
higher level; Former College or professional athlete; Head coaching experience; Experience recruiting
domestically and internationally.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with practice planning and coaching during team practices
• Assist with the organization and coordination of on-campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes
and coordination of all recruitment mailings and correspondence
• Assist athletic staff and head coach with team travel arrangements
• Assist with the monitoring of weight room and strength training programs
• Helps with game preparation and statistics, including scouting opponents.
• Assist head coach in monitoring academic progress to ensure retention and graduation
• Adhere to all NCAA Compliance rules and regulations
• Organize and conduct summer camps and clinics
• Other duties as assigned by the head coach.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Specific Skills • Communicate effectively and professionally, including written, interpersonal, and public
speaking. •Must be willing to work early morning, evening, weekends, and holidays.
Specialized Licenses • First Aid, CPR, AED training certification required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This opportunity requires the availability to work a variable schedule. Hours will be determined by mutual
agreement with the Director of Athletics and work to best accommodate the needs of the volleyball program
along with the athletics department. Traditional season and non-traditional Season hours will vary, with
hours in between seasons likely being more consistent. The work environment includes exposure to physical
conditions typical of a normal office environment. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the
work may require occasional standing or walking and/or lifting and carrying small objects.

Travel is required for this position.
