The University of Akron, a NCAA Division 1 (FBS) institution and member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is seeking applicants for the position of Asst. Rifle Coach. This position is a part-time position and will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach by coaching Student Athletes, recruiting, monitoring Student-Athletes academic progress, managing and creating content for social media platforms and managing travel.
55% Assist the Head Coach with the ongoing teaching and instruction of Student - Athletes in the performance of their sport such as, but not limited to, matches, practices, individual and team workouts, and conditioning sessions. Plan and attend coaching and practice sessions, games, tournaments, etc. in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations for specified positions.
25% Oversee recruitment and selection of Student -Athletes; ensures compliance with NCAA recruiting rules and regulations; initiates process for determining academic eligibility. Assist with recruiting quality prospective Student-Athletes.
10% Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of Student-Athletes to support the image and reputation of the department and university. Responsible for the
development, safety and conduct of the cadet-athletes within the sport program.
10% Recruit future team members by attending several important off campus national matches, coordinate official visits and unofficial visits for up to 15 prospects per year, associated expense reports and collection and categorization of many email inquiriessent by prospects.
10% Provide an overall positive educational environment for Student-Athletes conducive to learning, athletic development, socialgrowth, and preparing them for life beyond college.
Education:
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.

Education:

Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
USA Shooting or NRA Certified Rifle Coach. Valid Ohio Driver’s Liscense.
Experience:
Minimum of up to 2 years of Collegiate NCAA or club rifle coaching experience.
