Job Summary
The Assistant Men’s & Women’s Rowing Coach reports to the Head Men’s and Women’s Rowing Coach. The primary task is to support coaching and recruiting and develop a successful crew program in concert with the academic mission of the university. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Support the recruitment of quality student-athletes for the rowing program
Support organized practices in partnership with the head coach.
Support the counsel of student-athletes in a positive manner
Support fundraising opportunities for the rowing program, if appropriate
Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Minimum high school diploma is required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 – 2 years of rowing experience as a student or coach, preferably at the college level.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The person in this position should display evidence of a positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others required. They must possess excellent speaking and writing skills. This person should have the ability to be a well-organized self-starter, along with the ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts, work corroboratively with faculty and staff. This person should have working knowledge of a PC, Windows platform, telephone, fax machine, and equipment specific to the sport.
Additional Requirements
This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (
CSA
) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual
CSA
training requirements.
Physical Demand
Must have the energy and enthusiasm and mobility to actively coach water sports. Frequent walking, running, bending, stooping and lifting. Working conditions are both indoor and outdoor.
Contact with Others
Daily contact with students, staff and faculty. Frequent contact with prospective students and parents. Occasional contact with coaches from other colleges and with university administrative staff.
Experience
1-2 years of rowing experience as a student or coach at a college level preferred.
