Basic Responsibilities

Coaching and Teaching student-athletes

Assist in all aspects of Recruiting

Student-athlete development

Social Media Coordinator

Responsible for scout team and managers

Summer camp coach and counselor

Other duties as directed by Head Softball Coach

Essential Duties

Coaching and Teaching student-athletes

Teach and instruct principles, skills and techniques of the game

Teach and Develop physical skills of softball

Teach and Develop mental skills of softball

Ascertain game plan for opponent

Organize game film for staff and team

Teach and Develop spiritual and relational goals for softball student-athletes

Recruiting

Evaluate potential softball student-athletes

Recruit potential softball student-athletes via mail-outs, phone contacts, and personal visits on and off campus

Establish and develop relationships with high school coaches, AAU Coaches, and other sources of potential softball student-athletes

NCAA Regulations

Responsible for understanding NCAA rules for yourself and your student-athletes

Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Abilene Christian University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that you will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to your position. It is also expected that you will comply with all NCAA rules, and if you become aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred, you will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee

Training Modules Required

Softball clinics and seminars

Leadership, management, and decision-making workshops

Qualifications

Professional

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred

Coaching experience

Leadership or management experience

Personal

Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative

Strong communication and professional skills

Ability to work and interact well with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration

Physical Demands

Strong voice for extended period of talking

Able to demonstrate techniques used in softball

Able to adapt to long, extended hours of travel
