Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Assistant Softball Coach. This is a full time, 10-month reporting position with benefits. Under the general direction of the Head Softball Coach, this coach will be responsible for assisting in all facets of the NCAA D-III Softball program in accordance and compliance with NCAA, NCAC, and Kenyon College policies and regulations. The Assistant Softball Coach contributes to success in the following areas : recruiting qualified student-athletes, ensuring a positive student-athlete experience, day-to-day operations, and successful and positive coaching of softball student-athletes. Additional responsibilities will be assigned in game management, teaching, and/or administration.

It is also expected that the Assistant Softball Coach will embrace the department mission of fostering learning and developing community with a focus on the values of citizenship, competition, resiliency, sportsmanship, and teamwork within Kenyon’s unique campus culture. The Assistant Softball Coach serves the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Head Softball Coach and supports the mission of the College in its focus on student development, outcomes and success. This is a ten (10) month position with benefits that includes morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Head Coach in all aspects, as needed.
  • Be a contributing and positive member of the Kenyon Athletic Department and Student Affairs Division.
  • Maintain the field for practice, and sometimes games.
  • Represent Kenyon always in a positive and enthusiastic light.
  • Teach the basic fundamentals of the game using a skill set the will complement the head coach’s.
  • Recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for admission in the selective, highly competitive application pool at Kenyon College utilizing Teamworks software, including preparing promotional materials.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic trainers to maintain student-athlete welfare.
  • Stay up-to-date with sport and coaching best practices in order to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport.
  • Participate in the NCAC governance for softball at coaches meetings.
