Apply NowAlbany State University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual for the position of Assistant Softball Coach/Academic Coordinator. This dual role involves assisting in all aspects of the softball program, including coaching, recruiting, and game strategy, while also supporting the academic success of student-athletes. The academic coordinator component of this role involves working in collaboration with the Assistant AD for Student- Athlete Success and Compliance/SWA and the athletics academic advisor
Assistant Softball Coach (70%):
Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing practice and game strategies.
Recruit and evaluate high school and junior college talent in compliance with university and NCAA regulations.
Mentor and develop student-athletes, both on and off the field.
Assist in planning and conducting team practices and conditioning programs.
Help coordinate team travel arrangements and logistics.
Participate in community service activities and promote the softball program within
the local and university community.
Academic Coordinator (30%):
Assist in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
Collaborate with the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success and
Compliance/SWA and the athletics academic advisor in implementing academic support programs.
Provide guidance to student-athletes on time management, study skills, and academic resources.
Assist in tracking academic eligibility and progress towards degree completion.
Facilitate communication between student-athletes, coaches, and academic staff regarding academic needs and performances.
Help in coordinating study halls and tutoring sessions as necessary.
Bachelor's degree
Previous experience in coaching softball at the collegiate level
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Salary range is from $29,569 to $35,000
Strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members
from diverse backgrounds.
Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
