Pay Range

The compensation for this appointment will range from $80,000 to $90,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Position Summary Information

| Summary |
Under general supervision, assists in coaching duties for softball at California Baptist University. Assists with aspects of the program that may include planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes for athletic competition by performing the following duties. | | Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Other duties may be assigned.

1. Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
2. Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of CBU Athletics.
3. Ability to throw live batting practice.
4. Assists with the design of workout programs and training routines to improve athletic performance.
5. Assists as directed with implementing and supervising athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to sport.
6. Assists with the organization, design, and implementation of camps and clinics: direct when needed.
7. Participates in various fundraising, marketing, and promotion activities.
8. May perform administrative duties including ordering and maintaining equipment, monitoring budgets, and initiating correspondence.
9. Coach team members individually and in groups; demonstrate game techniques.
10. Assists in planning practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and Conference regulations.
11. Keep records and statistics during games and as directed by the Head Coach. Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the CBU Athletic Program philosophy.
12. Display good sportsmanship in relationship with students, staff, officials, and opponents as consistent with NCAA policies regarding the principle of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
13. Maintain up-to-date information of sport regulations, rule changes, and NCAA policies.
14. Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.
15. Assist in recruiting and following up with qualified student athletes by phone, e-mail, or through on-campus visits. Within the framework of CBU and NCAA policies, recruit prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.
16. Assist with video evaluation, video editing, scouting reports, and softball data analytics.
17. Adhere to all institutional, conference, and NCAA by-laws and regulations.
18. Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
19. Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes.
20. Support the head coach in monitoring and reinforcing all NCAA bylaws and procedures.
21. Assist the head coach in effectively arranging home and away contests according to conference and NCAA requirements and submit travel paperwork and NCAA pass lists on time. | | Supervisory Responsibilities |

• Ability to manage and assist with softball video editing, evaluation, and data analytics.

• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Substantial time is spent sitting, working on a computer or other office desk-type work. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds or stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day.
