Athletics - Sports Nutrition
The mission of the NC State Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. North Carolina State University competes as an NCAA Division I team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Will serve as Sports Dietitian for assigned sports and within compliance of NCAA and ACC regulationsDuties include but are not limited to: Complete nutritional assessment, sport-specific nutrition plans, and weight management programs for student athletes. Maintain compliance with policies and procedures of nutrition department. Complete body composition testing of student athletes. Provide nutrition-related education and outreach to student athletes and staff. Address clinical nutrition issues among student athletes (including, but not limited to: iron depletion/deficiency, bone-mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances, food allergies, disordered eating). Advise athletes and coaches regarding hydration standards. Complete nutritional counseling and education, group and/or individual, for student athletes and coaches. Advise coaches and staff on meal scheduling and food selection for day-to-day snacks and competition. Advise coaches and student athletes on campus dining meal plan selections and monitors/manages meal plan status of student athletes. Work with director of sports nutrition to manage nutrition budget including ordering nutrition supplies and dietary supplements and maintaining inventory of nutrition supplies. Monitor, evaluate, and educate on the use of nutritional supplements by student athletes. Oversee student workers & volunteers in nutrition including hiring, training and scheduling. Act as a resource for recruiting activities by providing information regarding the department’s sports nutrition program. Maintain pertinent expertise in rules & regulations of NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, and North Carolina State University. Stay up to date with latest research, innovations and developments in the field of sports nutrition, sports dietetics and athletics.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field required.
Prior working experience in sports nutrition or related field. Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills along with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and varied environment.
2+ years of experience in collegiate athletics Master’s degree in nutrition or related field
Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or RD/RDN eligible. Licensure must be obtained within 3 months of employment. Eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina.
