The Naval Academy Athletic Association Sports Nutrition Department (Sports Medicine) is now accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Sports Dietitian position. Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director of Dietetics and Sports Performance (Director of Sports Nutrition), the Assistant Sports Dietitian will be responsible for assisting with the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of all nutrition services provided to the student-athletes of the United States Naval Academy.

Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of sports nutrition for assigned varsity athletic teams under the supervision of the Director of Sports Nutrition.
Assist with the operation of all sports nutrition fueling stations including team nutrition areas and centralized fueling stations.
Assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance of athletes in the context of athletic performance and health.
Counsel athletes on optimal nutrition for training, competition, recovery, weight management, hydration, and supplementation.
Provide personalized meal and snack plans to promote short- and long-term goals for athletic performance and good health.
Provide appropriate care and medical nutrition therapy in the management of any medical conditions.
Evaluate nutritional supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy; monitor use of appropriate supplementation.
Coordinate nutrition care as a member of the multidisciplinary sports medicine team including ATC's, team physicians, and other medical staff.
Assist in coordinating menus, training tables, snack plans, and competition meals for assigned varsity athletic teams.
Provide nutrition support and meal recommendations for all domestic and/or international team travel.
Develop and delivers nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for performance.
Develop resources to support educational efforts in regards to student-athlete health, wellness, and sports performance.
Serve as a nutrition resource to all student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, strength coaches, food service personnel, and administrators.
Assist in supervising and mentoring intern sports dietitians and student volunteers
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field. Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Must obtain licensure as required by the state of Maryland Department of Health; Board of Dietetic Practice. Must maintain registration and licensure through continuing education requirements.
At least 6 months of full-time experience in an NCAA collegiate sports setting. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations in regards to nutrition and supplementation. Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, creative thinking and problem solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure in the fast paced environment of Division I Collegiate athletics. Must be able to work a non-standard work week including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays in addition to potential travel as needed.
Preferred:Master’s degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, or related field. Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). Greater than 1 year of experience in an NCAA Division I collegiate setting.
