The Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Sports Performance Center Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE
), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Assistant Sports Performance Center Coordinator assists in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Strength and Conditioning (Athlete Development) Program. This position specifically designs, maintains, supervises, and evaluates the Strength and Conditioning Program for assigned sport(s) and each specialized position the sports afford. Please note: This position will not be the strength and conditioning coach for Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball or Baseball.
Coaching includes instruction and athletic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach/Director and Director of Athletics. The Assistant Coach will adhere to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Head Coach/Director, and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the

COACHING

INSTRUCTION
Provides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and team members regarding the progress of each student athlete relative to their specific position for assigned sport(s). Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed. Teaches individuals and groups of players specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season. Teaches progressions and drills during daily practice time. Is available to coaches and players before, during and after practices.

ADMINISTRATION
Plans long and short-term strength and conditioning objectives for the team under the leadership of the Head Coach. Establishes strength and conditioning training requirements and regiments for members of the team. Encourage and participate in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging for both student workers, student athletes, and co-workers.

SUPERVISION
Provides leadership, supervision, and direction for assigned students. Plans, assigns, and reviews work. Establishes goals for each position and assesses performance through completion of evaluations. Provides mentorship for students and develops plans that improve skill set and competency.

RECRUITMENT
Prepares and distributes recruiting information. Participates in campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents. Works with populations which include minors under the age of 18.

Interacts with various campus offices, departments, as well as individual faculty and staff members. Serves as guest speaker at public events on behalf of
OSU
Athletics.
Bachelor’s degree.
Current certification in either National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (
CSCS
) and / or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (
SCCC
).
Current certification in
CPR
,
AED
and First Aid.
Two (2) years of
NCAA
or higher strength and conditioning coaching experience with a demonstrated competency in the safe and effective development of strength and conditioning training and with the necessary training to respond to emergency situations arising from that training.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for student athletes, student workers and colleagues.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Former Collegiate Student-athlete.
Some evening, weekend, and early morning work is required.
The employee in this position will often be required to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 200 pounds.
Access to expensive equipment.
Will be involved in coordination of a Youth Program (camp) and may have one-on-one access to youth under the age of 18.
