The Assistant Sports Turf Manager will aid the Sports Turf Manager in the overseeing of daily care for TCU’s Williams-Reilly Field at Lupton Stadium, Moncrief Field at Amon Carter Stadium, Williams- Reilly Field and Intramural facilities. The position will report to the Sports Turf Manager, but will work closely with the TCU baseball, Football, Soccer, and Track staffs on a daily basis to support practices, games, camps, summer events, tarping, field maintenance, and any other instances that may occur at the field. The position has oversight of six full-time equipment operators for daily support, and oversight of temporary student staff augmentation (approx. 5 students) for home Game Day support. The position is an on campus and in person role.

• Associate degree in Agronomy, horticulture or related.
• 3 plus years of Sports Turf maintenance experience.
• Spraying/ Fertilizer application experience.
• Experience working with warm season sports turf, overseeded sports turf, and transition.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, horticulture or related.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
• Satisfactory results from a post-offer physical examination.
• Licensed TDA pesticide applicator in Texas or the ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Knowledge of specialized landscaping techniques.
• Knowledge of safety regulations.
• Knowledge of agronomic arithmetic functions.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; cultural maintenance practices for sports turf; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system.
• Knowledge of NCAA standards for football, baseball, softball, soccer and track.
• Skill in operating commercial landscaping equipment such as large mowers, backhoes and bobcats.
• Ability to communicate technical information verbally.
• Ability to read weather radars and working forecasts.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs, and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Work is outdoors under variable weather conditions that can, at times, be extreme (high temperature and humidity levels, as well as freezing & icy water). This position is not sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours, including nights and weekends.
• May be exposed to automotive fluids while conducting operator maintenance actions. May be exposed to chemical fertilizers.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate, but can be noisy due to exposure to noise from motorized equipment and tools.
• This role is an on-campus in person position.
