Description
As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Full-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, reporting to the Athletic Director and Head strength and Conditioning coach , to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing assistance with the operation of the conditioning program.
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will report directly to the Director of the Strength and Conditioning Coach. Successful candidates for this position will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, punctuality, and a desire to lead within the program. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will have autonomy in developing his or her assigned teams for the university. The Assistant Coach will be expected to lead in developing and mentoring graduate assistants and interns within the program. They may be assigned other administrative duties in assistance to the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University’s by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
Design and conduct all pre-season, in season, post season, and summer strength and conditioning programs in accordance with NAIA bylaws and procedures
Oversee and manage weight room operations in any absence of the Director of Strength and Conditioning
Lead and assist the training of teams/groups/individuals as assigned
Planning with head coaches and athletic trainers
Instruct student-athletes in proper training techniques
Modify training programs for athletes with injury limitations

Assist in department education of nutrition and banned substances
Organize and analyze physical performance testing
Lead and motivate student-athletes to maximize their potential
Remain current on all trends, methods, and innovations related to strength and conditioning
Be present and punctual for all workouts with student athletes
Maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and specific records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of student-athlete
Create opportunities to grow the strength and conditioning program
Develop intern and graduate assistants working with the program
Regular maintenance and upkeep of all weight room equipment
Regular maintenance and upkeep of the weight room cleaning schedule
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Possess and maintain up to date CPR/AED/First Aid Certificate of Completion
Current possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field
Current possession or pursuit of CSCS or SCCC Certification
Prior work experience in the field of collegiate or high school strength and conditioning (internships/graduate assistantships included)
Experience writing, implementing, and modifying strength and conditioning programs for teams of athletes
Strong organizational skills and proficiency in using Excel, Gym Aware, Train Heroic, and other sports performance technologies
