The position reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Student Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer. This is a part-time, 10 month appointment.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach will be responsible for assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with planning, developing, and monitoring the strength and conditioning programs for the intercollegiate athletics programs. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach should help the Head Coach establish and maintain strength and conditioning programs for all sports, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach should assist in helping maintain the strength and conditioning facility, and for carrying out set policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Help design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all teams.
Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
Facilitate a collaborative relationship among sport coaches, sports medicine, and the strength and conditioning staff.
Use the guidance of the NCAA Sports Science Institute.
Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress in conjunction with the sport coaches.
Demonstrate the ability to relate to, and motivate, student-athletes and to work with a variety of University staff, alumni, and the outside community.
Commitment to compliance and knowledge of NCAA rules.
Promote the mission of the Athletic Department and Rockhurst University.
Scope of the positions requires the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical strength exercises, and to assist others performing those exercises.
Scope of the position requires frequent evening or early morning work and occasional out- of-town, overnight travel.
Must have excellent leadership and communication skills.
Bachelorâs Degree, Masterâs Degree Preferred.
It is preferred to have at least one of the following certifications:
1+ yearsâ experience is required in strength training, sport specific training, development and/or management of fitness programming, and/or experience in management of a health/fitness or weight training facility. Student-athlete experience, in any sport at the collegiate level, is preferred.
