Summary

Finally, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will also carry out additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning and Head Coach.
Design, implement, supervise and monitor all facets of strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams, to include:
Sport specific resistance training programs
Sport specific conditioning programs
Individual programs when necessitated
Conduct fitness testing, computation of results, and evaluation
Collaboration with fellow Student-Athlete Health and Welfare teammates and sport coaching personnel to monitor, assess and develop protocols for training loads, neuromuscular fatigue, recovery, athlete readiness, and other performance factors
Provide punctual, written and verbal, reports to fellow Student-Athlete Health and Welfare teammates and coaching personnel as needed
Ensure that your assigned teams are receiving equitable levels of service at all times. All of our teams are a priority
Instruct proper lifting technique and assist in spotting when necessary.
Effectively and properly motivate athletes, individually and as a group, to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance.
Provide facility and/or session coverage as needed/directed.
Assist in the recruitment, retention and hiring of highly qualified and competent strength & conditioning team members.
Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with all tasks for which he/she is responsible, and manage the general operation of the facility in the Director's absence.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with fellow strength & conditioning teammates, athletic administration, fellow Student-Athlete Health and Welfare teammates and sport coaching personnel.
Maintain all required strength & conditioning certifications and memberships.
Maintain current CPR/AED certifications.
Anticipate potential safety risks, take measures to remove them, and in the event of an injury, have the ability to implement emergency medical procedures.
Represent the University of Michigan and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at international, national, regional, state and University conferences/meetings as assigned.
Participate in special projects, committees, or other initiatives as assigned.
Stay current on industry Professional Standards and Guidelines.
Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, non-traditional work hours, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the position.
Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, work in various environmental conditions, and assist injured individuals on / off playing surfaces.
Provide a high level of customer service and communications at all times to all entities.
Adhere to and implement industry accepted, scientifically supported methodologies for all varsity athletic programs. Methods must be tested and properly implemented into the overall training plan for each athlete.
Establish and maintain collaborative alliances with multiple stakeholders at the University of Michigan.
Use technology to foster an effective and efficient overall experience for student-athletes and department team members.
Assist with special projects as assigned regarding donor and student-athlete support.
Contribute to the development of an environment for team members and student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and culturally diverse.
Adhere to the Code of Ethics and credentialing requirements of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and other credentialing organizations and the State of Michigan.
Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the NCAA, Big 10 Conference, University of Michigan, and University of Michigan Department of Athletics.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision and education of strength and conditioning personnel as assigned.
Supervision and education of other Student-Athlete Health & Welfare personnel as assigned.
Travel:
Equitably travel with assigned teams as needed and/or directed. This travel should in no way interfere with your responsibilities with your other team(s) and/or the S&C Department. If travel is warranted, you will first consult with and receive permission from the Director of Strength and Conditioning, as well as ensure that all other responsibilities are accounted for beforehand.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's Degree.
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist National Strength and Conditioning Association.
USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach / Sport Performance Coach (or equivalent: Totten Training Systems, UKSCA, BAWLA, etc.).
Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in the sports performance/strength and conditioning field.
Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task, work independently and as a member of a team, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to move/transport heavy objects, stand for long periods, work in various environmental conditions, and assist injured individuals on / off playing surfaces.
Demonstrated track record creating positive, high-energy, productive and supportive working relationships with student athletes, coaches, fellow strength & conditioning teammates and fellow Student-Athlete Health and Welfare teammates.
Ability to champion a culture of innovative thought, life-long learning and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated administrative proficiency to include report/proposal preparation.
Commitment to promote an atmosphere of compliance and adherence to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, University and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to meet Continuing Education requirements as established by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the State of Michigan, and other credentialing and/or licensing entities.
Ability to follow policies and procedures set forth by the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Knowledge and understanding of unique aspects of student-athlete populations.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to create programs and services to further drive program enhancements.
