Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Football

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for its Football program. The individual hired will be responsible for working directly with the team of strength and conditioning coaches to develop and manage an effective individual and group strength and conditioning program for football student-athletes. Responsibilities include specific football development and programming that includes optimization of strength, power, flexibility, mobility, agility, speed, and/or work capacity designed to enhance sports performance, decrease injuries, and assist with rehabilitation. The individual must be able to develop student-athletes both physically and mentally. The individual will report directly to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football. The individual will have shared responsibility for the strength and conditioning program and the daily weight room operations, the design of programs, maintenance of accurate inventory and control of weight-room equipment, and education and enforcement ofNCAA,ACC, and department policies on performance-enhancing drugs. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required for this position.

Oversees sports equipment, practice plans and schedules, skill development, designs coaching strategies. Oversees public and media relations. Coordinates team travel and schedule. Adheres to all rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
Design and implement strength and conditioning training programs and educate football student-athletes. Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff, football coaches and athletic trainer(s) to develop programs for football student-athletes. Monitor student-athletes’ performance and use the most up-to-date techniques to meet the team and individual needs. Test and assess student-athletes needs to determine individual capabilities, gauge progress and improvement, and evaluate opportunities for future growth. Work with the appropriate vendors, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and appropriate/assigned Athletic Department Administrator(s) to develop short- and long-term plans for the maintenance, repair, replacement, and continued safety of weight room and other training equipment. Support department’s drug program and educate student-athletes on the dangers of substance abuse. The individual will attend and/or participate in select coaching clinics and other professional development/continuing education opportunities to ensure that the individual understands current industry trends, regulations, and best practices. Other duties as assigned.

Heavy lifting, supervision of student-athletes. The incumbent will lift heavy objects, stand or walk the majority of the day, spot highly trained student-athletes, and demonstrate lifting and other training techniques.
