Bucknell University is seeking an Assistant Strength Coach to join our team!
Primary job responsibilities for this position will include: the design, implementation and scheduling of sport specific strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports. The successful candidate must be proficient in Olympic and strength training movements, exercise selection and training theories/philosophies.
Reports to: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Supervises: Volunteer Strength Interns
Responsible for overseeing and implementing training programs for Division I student-athletes in 6-8 varsity programs, assisting with the planning, scheduling, and development of weight training programs for 27 varsity D-1 intercollegiate athletic teams. Additional tasks include providing certified and safe instruction on the use of weight machines, free weights, and conditioning equipment, as well as conducting regular testing and evaluations of student-athletes to monitor progress and ensure training outcomes are met.
Promote commitment and teamwork by developing strong working relationships with the sports medicine staff, ensuring open lines of communication in the monitoring, design, and implementation of rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Additionally, the role involves educating and promoting proper nutritional guidance and supplementation to support the health and performance of student-athletes.
Responsible for maintaining the weight room by taking inventory of equipment and recommending upgrades as needed, in line with the department’s overall risk management planning. Additionally, the role includes overseeing volunteer Strength Interns, providing education on program development skills and proper lifting techniques to ensure their growth and effectiveness in the role.

What You'll Bring:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
NSCA-CSCS or CSCCA Certification
CPR/AED certification
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and student-athletes having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives
Attention to detail, integrity, and a high level of initiative
Working knowledge of medical and physiological terminology
Preferred, but not required:
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Strength Training or a related field of Exercise Science/Kinesiology
Professional Work Experience: One to three years of Collegiate Strength and Conditioning experience
Excellent computer skills and the ability to effectively work with others
Familiar with NCAA rules and regulations
Proficient in coaching Power Lifting and Olympic style lifts
Experience with the Bridge Athletics programming platform that powers robust workout design, delivery and monitoring
Experience with the Bod-E Comm2 (Near Infrared Body Composition Analyzer)
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of above average-weight objects and standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
