Position Function:
This position will assist the Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports/Director in all aspects of strength, conditioning, and movement for student-athletes at Mississippi State University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in all aspects of training for Mississippi State Softball.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for Softball.
• Collaborate and maintain relationships with Softball Staff and performance staff on a daily basis for all aspect of student-athletes performance.
• Maintain an open line of communication with the other members of the strength staff, athletic training, nutrition, sport psychology, and sport coaches.
• Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the weight room.
• Be available to meet with recruits as requested by sport coaches.
• Perform special assignments, projects and other duties as assigned by the Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports/Director and/or Executive Senior Associate AD for Sports Medicine and Performance.
• Develop or assist in the development of all aspects of a strength and conditioning program for other teams or disciplines within Mississippi State Athletics as assigned by Director of Strength and Conditioning.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field with one (1) year of experience as a strength coach in a Collegiate or Professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field (i.e., Strength & Conditioning/Exercise Science/Kinesiology); two (2) or more years of experience as a strength coach in a Collegiate or Professional setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrate knowledge of program design for a variety of sports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professionalism in dealing with coaches and student-athletes.
• Working knowledge of computers and technology is required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to foster a cooperative environment.
• Ability to critically assess, utilize, and troubleshoot various forms of weight room technology.
• Ability to build vendor relationships.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc.
• Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
• Requires handling of heavy weight objects up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis and on occasion up to 150+ lbs.
