Assistant to the Athletic Director (NCAA Internship)
Apply NowThis position will support the Director of Athletics in a wide range of athletics administration as outlined in the
NCAA
grant application in order to gain the widest breadth of athletics administrative experience possible.
ESSENTIAL
Assist with initial eligibility and compliance meetings.
Assist student-athletes in planning and conducting
SAAC
-sponsored events, primarily in the areas of community service and with our annual
DIII
Week celebration
Assist with athletics department traditional events such as Hall of Fame, Homecoming and Banquet
Assist with daily office operations such as ordering equipment and uniforms, supplies and other purchases for teams and coaches
Serve as a game day administrator as assigned.
Assist the Director in the preparation of the annual budget based on historical information and the department’s strategic plan
Other duties as assigned.
MARGINAL
Attend Athletic Department staff meetings.
Complete the
NCAA
DIII
Rules Test annually.
Utilize professional development funding provided by the
NCAA
.
Meet with mentor throughout the course of the grant.
Bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration (or related field) is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities, or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
Knowledge of
NCAA
rules and regulations related to recruiting and athletic administration.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, using the English language, for completion of staff expectations, and in creating documents throughout Athletic Department and the campus.
Ability/willingness to work extended hours/flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and vacation periods as necessary.
Ability to use a computer, keyboard and printer to produce printed materials as necessary.
Ability to work extended hours/flexible schedule.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
Ability to drive.
Ability to walk several flights of stairs, and/or attend meetings in other buildings located on or off-campus.
Visual and hearing ability to perform all required duties related to the position.
Individual requires the ability to balance their time effectively and efficiently between teams and student-athletes needing assistance. Ability to work autonomously toward department priorities is essential.
Individual must be pleasant, helpful and professional to all people making inquiries about the Athletics program.
