Job Summary
The Assistant Track & Field Coach position is a part-time position that reports to the Head Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting qualified student athletes, assisting in practice sessions and in-game duties, counseling student-athletes in a positive manner, and adhering to all
NCAA
, conference, and university rules and regulations. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Coach student athletes
Assist in meet management
Identify and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes
Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season training schedules
Maintain working knowledge of
NCAA
, Landmark Conference, and Susquehanna University policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required. Valid driver’s license is required.
Experience
3-5 years of coaching or competitive collegiate experience in the events of sprints & hurdles required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The role requires excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively convey detailed or important instructions and ideas, both loudly and quickly, as needed.
Additional Requirements
This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (
CSA
) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual
CSA
training requirements.
Physical Demand
This position requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects.
