Position Summary
Job Summary
The Assistant Track and Field coach is a part-time position that reports to the Head Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruitment of qualified student-athletes; assisting in practice sessions and in-game duties; counseling of student-athletes in a positive manner; and adhering to all
NCAA
, conference and university rules and regulations. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Coach student-athletes
Assist in meet management
Identify and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes
Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season training schedules
Maintain working knowledge of
NCAA
, Landmark Conference, and Susquehanna University policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required. Valid driver’s license is required.
Experience
3-5 years of coaching or competitive collegiate experience in track & field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Additional Requirements
This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (
CSA
) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual
CSA
training requirements. This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.
CPR

and First Aid certification is preferred.
Physical Demand
Lifting, Pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
