Assistant Track Coach
Apply NowAn assistant coach is responsible for working with and assisting the head coach in all aspects of the intercollegiate athletic program.
• Assist the head coach in recruiting and maintaining a quota of qualified student-athletes who meet the requirements for entrance into Texas Wesleyan University.
• Assist the head coach in hiring, training, and supervising student assistant coaches.
• Assist the head coach in fundraising for appropriate dollar amounts through donations or special projects.
• Assist the head coach in effectively coaching his/her team.
• Assist the head coach in seeing that the student-athletes meet
GPA
and eligibility requirements each semester.
• Assist the head coach in developing a yearly budget and controlling spending to ensure the program does not exceed the budget.
• Asist the head coach in planning and administration of intercollegiate meets.
• Assist the head coach in scheduling all contests and have the complete schedule approved by Athletic Director and Faculty Athletic Committee prior to competition.
• Assist the head coach in complying with the eligibility requirements for recruitment of
NAIA
student athletes and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
• Assist the head coach in completing accurate monthly reports in a timely manner.
• Assist the head coach in supervising student-athletes during practice and games to ensure that the highest standards of sportsmanship and integrity are maintained.
• Assist the head coach in developing, writing and administering a yearly plan
• Assist the head coach in evaluating his/her intercollegiate athletic program continuously.
• Assist the head coach in arranging for all athletic awards in their area.
• Assist the head coach in representing the University in public presentations as needed.
• Assist the head coach in conducting outreach activity(s) in the local community as required.
• Assist the head coach in arranging safe transportation for student athletes at away contests and/or off-campus practices.
• Attend clinics and workshops to achieve certification and/or to maintain skills.
• Assist in the coordination of the department’s special activities.
• Serve on the coaches and other committees as assigned by Provost or Athletic Director.
• Other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
A valid Texas driver’s license
Minimum two years experience in coaching or playing sport at collegiate or university level or equivalency at lower level
• Knowledge of sport coaching required, where available certification preferred.
• Familiarity with
NAIA
policies and procedures.
• Ability and authority to drive a 15-passenger van, i.e. a safe driving record.
• Ability to demonstrate appropriate technical skills during practice.
• Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with
FERPA
regulations.
• Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to provide and demonstrate quality customer service.
• Ability to plan, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of student development theory and student personnel administration.
• Knowledge of student program planning and implementation skills.
• Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current computer software programs.
• Knowledge of rules, standards, regulations, and laws regarding student athlete administration.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.
