Knox College and the Department of Athletics seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Assistant Coach for its men and women’s cross country program. The Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach provides assistance to the Head Track Coach with regard to all aspects of the program, but with particular emphasis on throws. The preferred candidate will work with the head coach and other assistants to plan practices, competition strategies, recruiting, retention, budget management, performance evaluation, and program growth, among other responsibilities.
Candidates will embrace work in a fast-paced, team-based environment and will be able to build and sustain relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and staff.

The Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach provides assistance to the Head Track Coach with regard to all aspects of the program, but with particular emphasis on throws. The preferred candidate will have expertise in throwing events and will be expected to responsibly and effectively coach and lead throwers. The assistant coach will develop effective practice plans, competition strategies, and maintain professional relationships with student athletes that will promote a competitively and experientially positive experience.
The assistant coach will demonstrate a knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques associated with track and field, as well as the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate varied events, skill levels, and complex tasks and procedures.
The preferred candidate will be highly organized, professional, outgoing, and engaging across constituencies. They will have excellent communication and supervisory skills. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the head coach and / or the director of athletics.
