Job Description

The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Achievement and Enrichment at Missouri S&T is a pivotal senior leadership role, central to advancing academic support services and experiential learning initiatives across the university. This position will be responsible for satisfactorily carrying out effective efforts to increase retention toward a 2030 target of 92.5% and increase 4-year graduation rates. Therefore, this position will develop, implement, and continue to refine mechanisms that enhance student academic success; use progress metrics and analytics as inputs to academic advising; leverage peer mentoring and peer tutoring; explore additional academic supports including professional tutoring, supplemental instruction, and success in first- and second-year coursework; and best implement meaningful co-curricular and experiential learning initiatives that drive retention goals.

This position is crucial for driving student success through the strategic management of key programs, including Study Abroad, the Global Engineering Program, Tutoring, the Honors Academy, and the effective deployment of Starfish. A primary responsibility of this role is the comprehensive coordination of academic advising university-wide, ensuring a cohesive and effective advising framework. The position also oversees the Kummer Student Design Center, leads retention strategies through the Retention Task Force, and enhances first and second-year student experiences, with key involvement in Cornerstone Peers and curriculum development and integration.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Achievement and Enrichment will play a pivotal role in supporting the Vice Chancellor by fostering a collaborative network with fellow AVCs to advance student success initiatives. By leveraging their expertise in co-curricular programs, the AVCAA will engage deeply with faculty, chairs, and deans, ensuring that these initiatives are seamlessly integrated into the broader academic framework. Their leadership skills and strategic influence will be crucial in championing innovative approaches to student enrichment, aligning these efforts with the Vice Chancellor’s vision.
