About this position
McPherson College is seeking an assistant coach for women’s volleyball. This is a part-time, 12-month, exempt position with college benefits. This position reports directly to the Head Volleyball Coach.
The primary responsibility will be to assist the head coach with a focus on student/athlete instruction on athletic performance, physical health, and sport team concepts specific to the sport of volleyball. This position provides the support necessary for student athletes to be successful in their athletic and academic endeavors. The instructional duties would include, but are not limited to, the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, the monitoring of student-athlete academic progress and representing McPherson College, its mission, and the Athletic department's program and goals in a positive manner. The Head Volleyball Coach may assign other duties.

Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Coaching experience at the college level is preferred for the successful applicant.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are required. Must have the ability to connect with and work well alongside the coaching staff, various members of the athletics department and campus, and student athletes. Must be able to help student athletes grow and develop academically, athletically, and socially.
Other Skills: Must be able to use Outlook.
Physical Skills: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in light to moderate work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10-25 pounds). Tasks involve demonstrating competitive Volleyball techniques and plays, requiring standing, moving, bending and jumping.
A valid driver’s license is required.
The ability to travel to off-campus events and the ability to work evening and weekends are expectations of this position.
