Job Summary

This position is responsible for assistance to the maintenance of all courts, instruction of how to operate sport equipment safely and efficiently, and attendance of all games and practices.

Essential Job Duties

• Instructs student athletes about skills and execution needed to perform the sport of basketball effectively and competitively.
• Assist the Head Coach with recruitment of team members by understanding the productivity of a balanced team, knowing how to recognize athletic ability, and attracting good players to this university.
• Maintain all supplies and equipment, prepare and clean the courts before and after games. 
• Attend all games and practices scheduled.
• Provide support to helpers within the coaching team.
• Instruct all team members about rules, strategies, and techniques of basketball to prepare them for competition.
• Contribute to a positive work climate and the team effort within the school, as well as demonstrate a positive sportsmanship in everyday situations.
• Support the head coach in ensuring that all matters related to the team’s student-athletes adhere to NCAA rules and regulations as defined in the NCAA Division II Manual.
• Apply Christian standards and attitudes in relationships among cohorts, faculty, staff and students.
• Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes.
• Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams to develop game strategies.
• Make sure that all student-athletes understand NCAA and GSC rules and compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience.
